PackagerThis role focuses on packaging and bagging finished food products at the end of a high-volume production line. You work in a fast-paced tortilla manufacturing environment, ensuring that all products are correctly counted, packaged, boxed, and palletized while meeting strict food safety and quality standards. The position involves standing for the entire shift, lifting products and boxes, working near ovens in a hot environment, and accurately entering production data into a computer system.ResponsibilitiesWork at the end of the production line to package and bag finished tortilla products.Verify that the correct packaging materials are available and in use throughout the shift.Confirm the quantity of tortillas in each stack and notify the lead if counts are inaccurate.Quickly and neatly place tortillas into packages as they exit the counter stacker.Place filled packages in the proper location for sealing and ensure the sealing process is completed correctly.Inspect package seals and set aside any products that do not meet quality standards.Verify that code dates on packages and cartons are legible and accurate.Confirm that the correct cartons are being used for each product type.Place the proper number of packages into cases, using inserts when necessary, and verify that cartons are sealed properly.Prepare boxes for product packaging, including assembling, sealing, and taping product boxes.Ensure box printers are operating properly and that printed information is accurate.Place finished product cartons on pallets in the designated configuration and orientation.Arrange cartons on pallets so expiration codes can be read from all sides.Confirm the quantity of cartons on each pallet and affix the appropriate bar code label.Wrap pallets with stretch wrap and move completed pallets to the warehouse for loading.Ensure the packing area is stocked with adequate supplies such as packaging materials, cartons, and stretch wrap.Empty food waste containers into the compactor and remove cardboard from the pack area to maintain cleanliness.Identify and discard faulty bags or packages that do not meet quality or safety standards.Rotate between bagging, boxing, stacking, and palletizing duties throughout the shift as directed by the lead.Lift products and boxes, including weights up to 50 pounds, repeatedly during the shift.Stand and walk on the production floor for approximately 8 hours per day.Communicate equipment errors or issues to machine operators and leads promptly.Accurately enter job and production data into a computer system as required.Follow all food safety and contamination prevention rules, including restrictions on personal items and proper use of protective gear.Essential SkillsAt least 6 months of packaging experience in a production or manufacturing environment.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the shift.Comfort working in a very fast-paced production environment.Comfort working in a hot environment that can reach temperatures up to approximately 100 degrees near ovens.Ability to stand and work on your feet for up to 8 hours per day.Basic computer skills and comfort entering production data into a computer system.Attention to detail in verifying counts, packaging materials, seals, code dates, and labels.Ability to follow strict food safety and contamination prevention procedures.Strong communication skills to report equipment errors and quality issues to machine operators and leads.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious food production experience is preferred, especially bakery experience.Experience working on a packaging line, including bagging, boxing, labeling, and palletizing.Experience in general production, inventory handling, or other manufacturing roles.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment where tasks are rotated throughout the shift.Comfort working in an environment where flour and gluten are present in the air.Why Work Here?You join a close-knit, family-oriented workplace where many employees have relatives working alongside them, creating a supportive and friendly atmosphere. You work on the packaging line near ovens, where temperatures can become very hot, at times reaching around 100 degrees. The environment is fast paced, with continuous movement of product and frequent lifting of items up to 50 pounds. You spend the entire 8-hour shift on your feet, standing and walking on the production floor. The facility uses flour extensively, so gluten is present in the air. Food safety is a top priority, and you must wear a full gown, hair net, and beard net if applicable, all provided by the company. Hearing protection such as earplugs or earmuffs is also required and provided. To prevent contamination, you cannot wear jewelry, makeup, nail polish, fake eyelashes, or any other items that could fall off into the product. The production floor allows shorts as part of the dress code, and you receive two 30-minute breaks per day, one paid and one unpaid, scheduled in coordination with the area lead. The environment features standard production equipment, including packaging machinery, box printers, palletizers, and computer terminals for data entry.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eagan, MN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.15 - $20.15/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
