General Maintenance Worker

Job Summary:

The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Plasters or compounds to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
• Replaces broken windowpanes.
• Repairs and replaces door jambs and door closures.
• Paints structures, equipment, doors, windows, etc.
• Repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
• Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles.
• Installs, repairs, and adjusts locking hardware.
• Repairs and replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets, and performs other basic plumbing needs.
• Performs general maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facility.
• Maintains existing lock systems.
• Identifies additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report those to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
• Performs basic housekeeping duties as needed including emptying trash containers, sweeping, and mopping floors, cleaning drains, disposal of trash and recyclables to proper location, etc.
• Maintains tools and equipment in good condition; plans and organizes assignments effectively.
• Organizes all work assigned and completes accurately and on-time all work tickets and required paperwork.
• Presents a professional, positive, and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers, co-workers, and supervision.
• Maintains effective communication with management, employees, and customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• U.S. Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain base access.
• Submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Not be color-blind.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of recent experience within the past five years in facility maintenance.

Preferred:

• Prior experience working on government contracts.
• OSHA 10.
