You will communicate concepts, designs, and methods to suppliers and support the incorporation of supplier-developed approaches into final products and testing. You will also support the evaluation and procurement of services for the design, maintenance, and construction of systems and structures important to nuclear safety. In addition, you will support storage management and controlled-inventory tracking for components and parts used by the Superblock.
This position is within the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED) in the Engineering Directorate.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, based on team and organizational needs.
You will

Oversee workforce planning, assign and balance priorities, coordinate resources across multiple projects, and review deliverables to ensure excellence.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of integrated processes and procedures for engineering procurement, supplier coordination, material control, storage management, and controlled-inventory tracking throughout the Superblock.
- Drive the optimization and utilization of the MRP system to support requirements planning, procurement, inventory status, project execution, and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with engineering, program management, project teams, Procurement, Quality Assurance, operations, and suppliers to extract requirements and formulate robust procurement and acquisition strategies.
- Direct the procurement of specialized hardware, equipment, tooling, components, parts, and services, including those supporting the design, maintenance, and construction of systems and structures critical to nuclear safety.
- Oversee technical evaluations, procurement specifications, statements of work, supplier submittals, acceptance testing, receipt inspection, Commercial Grade Dedication activities, and quality assurance documentation, ensuring compliance and traceability.
- Establish and maintain rigorous controls for the receipt, identification, inspection, preservation, storage, movement, issuance, return, reconciliation, and disposition of controlled inventory.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, review technical and commercial information, conduct site visits as needed, identify risks, and coordinate corrective actions to uphold safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Provide comprehensive status updates, resolve complex issues, and recommend strategic improvements related to safety, quality, compliance, manufacturability, traceability, schedule, cost, and process effectiveness.
- Establish program-level performance measures, assess process effectiveness, and implement enhancements to strengthen procurement quality, inventory accuracy, material traceability, and mission readiness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Extensive experience leading and managing engineering, procurement, supply chain, inventory, or material-management activities in complex technical, industrial, scientific, or nuclear environments.
- Expertise in supervising, mentoring, and providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, including assigning work, balancing priorities, reviewing deliverables, and supporting performance development.
- Advanced proficiency in developing, implementing, and continuously improving program-level procurement, supplier management, material control, inventory management, and storage management processes.
- Proven ability to prepare and review procurement specifications, statements of work, technical evaluations, supplier documentation, acceptance tests, inspection requirements, and quality records.
- Deep knowledge of material identification, traceability, configuration status, preservation, storage conditions, inventory reconciliation, and controlled-material practices applicable to nuclear or other high-hazard facilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate work with engineering, project management, Procurement, Quality Assurance, operations, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to present technical and operational information to management and represent the organization in cross-functional initiatives.
- Ability to establish performance measures, evaluate process effectiveness, and implement improvements across multiple organizations or projects.
Qualifications We Desire

- Experience with federal or taxpayer-funded acquisition practices, intellectual property, export control, or related compliance requirements.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, optical, high-vacuum, electro-optical, scientific, or nuclear systems.
