Position description

The Department of Radiology at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is recruiting two full-time interventional radiologists for faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Clinical "X" Series or Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series.

Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct meaningful research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. A strong interest in research is an essential criterion in this series.

Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criterion for appointment in this series.

UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento is a quaternary care, Level I trauma center serving a diverse patient population with a broad range of clinical needs. The candidate will have dedicated clinic time to evaluate and manage ambulatory patients in an interventional radiology clinic. Faculty supervise residents, medical students, and a supportive team of physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Our residency program includes 10 integrated interventional radiology residents and 30 diagnostic radiology residents. Faculty participate in the management of the inpatient consult service and contribute to subspecialty multidisciplinary tumor boards and conferences.

Interventional procedures are performed in the hospital and at our outpatient 48X Complex, which opened in July 2025 and features state-of-the-art angiography suites and dedicated ultrasound- and CT-guided procedure rooms. Hospital-based interventional suites are being upgraded with new angiography equipment, and the CT procedure room is being converted to a hybrid angiography/CT suite.

UC Davis Medical Center's campus is expanding, with the new California Tower adding inpatient beds and increasing procedure volumes across the health system. Together with the division's growing community presence, this expansion is driving demand for interventional radiology services. We are expanding our interventional radiology faculty to meet this demand and advance our academic and educational mission, with a continued commitment to leadership in clinical care, education, and research.

The candidate may receive additional academic time if they hold extramural grant funding and/or administrative positions. The university offers opportunities to build the practice, develop novel techniques, establish collaborations, and pursue basic, translational, and clinical research.

In addition to base salary, we offer additional call pay based on call frequency, an annual bonus of up to $20,000, and professional development support, including an annual allotment for licenses and conferences of approximately $5,000. We also offer a one-time relocation allotment of $20,000 upon hire, subject to eligibility criteria.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Possess an M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree

Licensed or be eligible for full licensure in the State of California, and or meet eligibility requirements for a CA Special Permit. Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Be American Board of Radiology certified or eligible in Diagnostic Radiology and Vascular and Interventional Radiology (IR/DR Certification)

Have experience in providing patient care in all aspects of clinical service for interventional radiology, including vascular and non-vascular procedures, in both inpatient and outpatient settings

Experience with and ability to teach medical students, residents, and fellows

Experience with and interest in clinical research

Ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

Demonstrated administrative leadership experience to develop multi-disciplinary collaborations and affiliations with other practices and our community partners

Experience in collaborative and multi-disciplinary research
