About the Position

Adept with EPIC software. Experience in caring for high acuity patient populations. Description: This position involves working in a dynamic emergency room setting. The unit has 24 beds, including behavioral health and critical care rooms. A separate triage area is available, and travelers are expected to perform triage duties. The ER sees an average of 70-80 patients daily. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4:1. Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and uncontrolled diabetes. The patient population ranges from 20 to 90 years old. The medical team includes one ED physician and additional mid-level providers during peak hours. Charge nurses are present 24/7 and may take patient assignments, mainly for behavioral health cases. A patient care technician is available for support on each shift. Respiratory therapy services are in-house 24/7. Registered nurses are responsible for drawing labs and troubleshooting respiratory equipment. Self-scheduling is available for local staff, though traveler scheduling is subject to availability. Weekend coverage may be required depending on the shift. Holiday coverage is expected. Floating between different campuses may occur but will be infrequent. Scrub colors are navy blue, and plain or branded sweatshirts are allowed. This position requires candidates to be self-sufficient and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
