Catering Coordinator

As a Catering Coordinator, this position will be responsible for setting the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability. Coordinates the delivery of the freshest and best quality product at a competitive retail price. Additionally you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, generating a friendly atmosphere, setting department standards, providing prompt and efficient customer service, handling and satisfying customer issues, determining department goals, meeting with customers, writing detailed orders, contacting businesses, developing contracts, recommending and buying equipment, consulting with customers on rental companies, attending department manager meetings, figuring retail pricing, preparing customer bills, extending invoices, posting invoices, overseeing department bookkeeping procedures, developing and maintaining standard catering practices, checking multi catering events for quality control, answering phone calls, returning calls from voicemail, developing guidelines for department performance, organizing shows and events, setting up displays, communicating with events coordinator, ensuring proper temperatures and storage procedures, understanding and troubleshooting equipment, maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines, reporting to work when scheduled, and working expected number of hours.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include ensuring competitive pricing, attending meetings and seminars, participating in continuing education, performing departmental duties, assisting in other areas of the store, and performing other job-related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to solve practical problems, comprehend non-verbal symbolism, do arithmetic calculations, compose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and have increased contact with people. Education and experience include high school or equivalent experience and over one year up to three years of similar or related work experience.

Supervisory responsibilities include instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work of others and allocated personnel, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, and acting on employee problems. Physical requirements include exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working conditions include frequent exposure to noise and occasional exposure to equipment movement hazards, temperature extremes, dirt, and cleaning chemicals/solvents. This is a fast paced work environment with significant pressure.

Equipment used to perform the job includes telephone, fax, copier, intercom system, computer, calculator, cash register, oven, steamer, catering equipment, gas grill, and delivery van. Financial responsibility includes being responsible for company assets, including equipment and merchandise. When sales are over $100.00 supervisor will take action. Contacts include daily contact with customers, employees, and the general public. Frequent contacts with federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies. Occasional contact with supplier/vendors. Confidentiality includes access to confidential information including employee compensation, monthly results, quarterly inventory reports, sales and profit sheets, and warehouse pricing.
