Occupational Therapist

Essential Duties:

• Utilize creative and manual arts, recreational, educational, and social activities, and to develop personal care, motor, self-help and pre-vocational skills; and employ sensory professing and regulation as it affects school performance and/or functioning.
• Work with students aged birth to 26 regarding motor and/or sensory issues.
• Demonstrate knowledge regarding developmental milestones of young children, develop home-based programs, and communicate these programs to parents.
• Assess levels of functioning in the above areas and develop written plans and/or recommendations for remediation of deficiencies. Continually evaluate occupational programs and adjust programs accordingly.
• Participate in MET and IEP meetings as necessary.
• Make or be able to adapt equipment to individual needs of students.

Work with classroom personnel and other supportive service staff to provide individual multidisciplinary programs.

Instruct and/or provide in-service training for staff and parents relative to occupational therapy program.

Maintain accurate records on all students.

Develop and maintain a good working relationship with parents and periodically inform them of the progress the child is making.

Maintain regular, predictable in-person attendance.

Adhere to MCISD Guidelines and Policies

Follow work rules.

Assume other duties as assigned by the principal.

Possess National Provider Identification number or willing to obtain one upon hire.

Education:

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.

Licensure:

• Must meet all state licensure requirements for registration as a professional Occupational Therapist.
• Possess National Provider Identification number or willing to obtain one upon hire.

Experience:

• Six months to one year, preferred.
• School experience preferred.

Upon hire, employees of the Monroe County Intermediate School District are fingerprinted for a Michigan and FBI criminal history check. The processing fee of $42.00 is the responsibility of the applicant.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly will sit, walk and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and physically manage students.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally quiet to moderate. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being of students.
