Summary
- Source products to be resold to customers
- Prepare and issue purchase orders (POs) to vendors
- Negotiate terms and pricing with vendors to secure favorable purchasing conditions
- Maintain and manage vendor relationships to support supply chain continuity
- Reduce costs through strategic alliances with vendors
- Negotiate cost-effective purchases while maintaining high levels of quality and service
- Identify and qualify new vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply
- Monitor vendor performance, including delivery timelines, product quality, and service levels
- Ensure optimal levels of inventory are held across all locations
- Ensure inventory arrives on time and in the most economical way
- Work closely with procurement, sales, and operations teams to provide accurate product costing
- Forecast material needs based on historical data, sales trends, and upcoming projects
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies and coordinate with warehouse personnel on physical inventory counts
- Monitor back orders and delays, proactively addressing potential stockouts or delivery issues
- Organize and arrange FTL (Full Truckload) and LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipments
- Negotiate rates and secure carriers to move freight and book loads
- Work closely with project managers to fulfill jobsite material and delivery requirements
- Track shipments and provide updates to internal stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery and problem resolution
- Maintain shipping documentation and ensure compliance with transportation regulations
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Relevant certifications are a plus, such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management)
- 2–4 years of experience in procurement, logistics coordination, supply chain, or a similar role preferred
- Experience working with vendors, freight carriers, and inventory management systems
- Familiarity with FTL/LTL shipping and cost negotiation preferred
- Proficiency with procurement software or ERP systems preferred
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Familiarity with shipping methods, terms, and regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
