Senior Network Engineer

Houston, Texas | Infrastructure, Cloud & Enterprise Networking We’re working with a Houston-based organisation looking to hire a strong Network Engineer / Senior Network Engineer to support, improve, and scale its enterprise infrastructure. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys real ownership across LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, VPN, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity and infrastructure reliability. The role would suit either a hands‑on Network Engineer ready for more responsibility, or a Senior Network Engineer who can lead projects, improve standards and act as a trusted technical escalation point. The Opportunity You’ll be joining a business where network reliability, security and performance genuinely matter. The role sits within a wider infrastructure environment that covers enterprise networking, cloud platforms, systems, security, and operational support. You’ll be involved in both day‑to‑day network operations and project work, including upgrades, troubleshooting, design improvements, security hardening and support for multi‑site infrastructure. What You’ll Be Doing Support, maintain and improve enterprise network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, wireless and data centre environments. Configure, troubleshoot and optimise routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and related network services. Work across Cisco or similar enterprise networking technologies. Support network security controls, firewall rules, segmentation and secure remote access. Monitor network performance, investigate issues and resolve incidents quickly. Support infrastructure projects including refreshes, migrations, upgrades and new site/network deployments. Work with cloud, systems, security and service teams to keep infrastructure stable and scalable. Document network designs, configurations, changes and troubleshooting steps. Liaise with vendors, MSPs and internal stakeholders where needed. For senior‑level candidates: provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and influence future network architecture. What We’re Looking For Strong hands‑on experience in network engineering, network administration or infrastructure engineering. Good understanding of routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and firewall technologies. Experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN environments. Confident troubleshooting live network issues under pressure. Familiarity with monitoring tools, change control and incident/problem management. Exposure to wireless, SD-WAN, cloud networking, data centre networking or OT/industrial environments would be valuable. Strong communication skills — able to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Security+ or equivalent experience would be beneficial. Senior‑Level Experience That Would Stand Out Network design or architecture experience. Leading network upgrade or migration projects. Experience with multi‑site enterprise environments. Firewall/security policy ownership. Azure, AWS or hybrid cloud connectivity experience. Experience supporting regulated, energy, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, telecoms or MSP environments. Ability to mentor engineers and set technical standards.
