Critical Facility EngineerThe Critical Facility Engineer is the expert in facilitating the work of data centers and must be clued up on the latest technology pertinent to servers, hardware, operating systems, and maintaining infrastructure. Critical Facility Engineer responsibilities include rack installation, including electrical and mechanical system components.Primary duties within varied scope of work and client expectations will range from:Conduct the day-to-day operations for the Data CenterInstall racks and enclosures for equipmentPrepare equipment for installationUpdate cable management systems as changes are made to the DC cable plantUpdate asset management systems as equipment is added/removedExecute tasks for each project and work with all teams to meet timelinesCommunicate project status updates to all teams and stakeholdersCommunicate information to assist with capacity planning for space, power, data communications, and coolingManage vendor resources to complete tasks as defined in SOWsCoordinate delivery and shipping of all equipmentAccess, install, remove, and test electrical componentsElectrical whip installation within WhitespaceComplete termination of power cabling, moves - adds - and changes (MAC)Panel installations, patch cord management, cabinet installation, and proper device connections as directedInstallation and quality control inspections on mechanical system componentsPolicing of computer rooms, always ensuring cleanliness and that no cardboard is distortedReport hazards and violations of any safety issuesAdditional Accountabilities• 100% completion and fulfillment of client SOW and expectations• 100% accurate and timely documentation of work orders• Accurate and timely submission of time sheet documentation• Accurate and timely submission of Task Hazard/Job Hazard Assessments• Accurate and timely submission of Incident Reports• 100% completion of required Safety and Compliance training courses as assigned• 100% adherence to Salute Mission critical safety standards and best practices• 100% adherence to client security/privacy practices and expectationsRequired qualifications, skills, experience for success:• Experience in Data Centers and co-location environments managing hardware assets• Demonstrable project management experience with the ability to manage tasks under tight deadlines• Experience with a large variety of different vendor hardware: servers, storage, and network equipment• Experience in contributing to detailed project plans for programs involving cross-functional teams and challenging requirements• Demonstrated ability to coordinate issue resolution across departmental teams• Experience with Asset Management Systems• Experience in managing inventory of cable, power cords, and other infrastructure items• Possess a valid driver's license for work-related travel, as requiredPreferred Qualities Leading to Success• Ability to understand drawings, plans, and specifications• Ability to follow instructions to complete projects in a timely and qualitative manner• Possess Microsoft Excel spreadsheet competency• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects• Possess a strong sense of methodology, processes, and metrics• Possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written• Possess strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills• Physical ability to lift at least 50-70 lbs. on a regular basis, and able to use server lifts or pallet jacksJob Hazard Assessment Mitigation Awareness• PPE• Fall Protection/Ladder Safety• Arc Flash Awareness• Power Lift Vehicle/Scissor Lift Vehicle Awareness• Hazard Communications• Confined SpacePhysical Requirements:o Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, often up to 40 poundso Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipmento Ability to stand for extended periods while performing tasks in various work environmentso Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas efficientlyo Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel for equipment-related taskso Possess good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for working with small components and connectorso Possess ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cableso Possess ability to move quickly and efficiently within various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencieso Possess ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facilityo Possess ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snowo Possess capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protectionMonday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 0700-1500
