Job Description
The Waterproofing Foreman leads field crews in the installation of commercial waterproofing systems, including sealants, membranes, coatings, air barriers, and expansion joints. This role supervises, trains, and directs crew members to complete work safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry quality standards. The foreman serves as the on‑site leader, coordinating with general contractors, inspectors, and other trades to maintain workflow, sequencing, and project schedules while upholding strict safety and quality expectations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and direct waterproofing crews on active commercial job sites, ensuring each team member understands daily tasks and performance expectations.
- Assign daily work activities, monitor productivity, and adjust crew assignments to meet project milestones and deadlines.
- Oversee the installation of commercial waterproofing systems, including sealants, membranes, coatings, air barriers, and expansion joint systems.
- Verify that all waterproofing installations follow project specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable ASTM standards.
- Inspect completed and in‑progress work for proper adhesion, coverage, thickness, tooling, and overall workmanship quality.
- Coordinate daily with site superintendents, project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades to maintain smooth workflow and proper sequencing of tasks.
- Enforce safety policies and OSHA regulations on the job site, including fall protection and job‑site safety protocols.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety meetings, documenting attendance and topics discussed.
- Ensure all crew members use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices at all times.
- Track material usage and inventory, identify upcoming needs, and coordinate ordering of waterproofing materials and supplies.
- Manage tools and equipment, including hand tools and mechanical equipment, ensuring proper operation, storage, and handling.
- Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, details, and specifications to plan work and guide crews in correct installation methods.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams to report progress, address issues, and support accurate project documentation.
- Identify potential quality or safety issues early and take corrective action to prevent rework, delays, or incidents.
- Support the training and development of crew members by demonstrating proper installation techniques and reinforcing best practices.
Essential Skills
- 3–5+ years of experience in commercial waterproofing, caulking, or building‑envelope systems.
- Proven leadership experience supervising crews on active construction job sites.
- Hands‑on experience installing sealants, membranes, coatings, air barriers, and expansion joint systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, details, and project specifications.
- Strong technical knowledge of sealants, membranes, primers, air barriers, firestop systems, and expansion joints.
- Solid understanding of OSHA standards, fall protection requirements, and general job‑site safety protocols.
- Construction experience with familiarity in general labor and mechanical tasks related to building envelope work.
- Proficiency using hand tools and related equipment for installation and general construction tasks.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with general contractors, inspectors, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage multiple tasks, and maintain productivity in a field environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Aerial lift certification for boom and scissor lift operation.
- Manufacturer training or certifications from organizations such as SWR Institute, Tremco, Sika, Carlisle, or similar providers.
- Firestop certification from Hilti, STI, or equivalent programs.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills that support effective crew leadership and communication.
- Experience coordinating with multiple trades on commercial construction projects.
- Familiarity with quality control practices related to adhesion, coverage, thickness, and tooling of waterproofing materials.

Work Environment
This role is field‑based on commercial construction sites, working closely with general contractors, inspectors, and other trades. You will operate and work around aerial lifts such as boom and scissor lifts and regularly use hand tools and mechanical equipment for installation tasks. Work involves outdoor and partially enclosed environments, often at heights and in varying weather conditions, following strict OSHA safety standards and fall protection requirements. The position requires consistent use of appropriate PPE and adherence to site safety protocols while maintaining productivity and high‑quality workmanship throughout each project
