Job Details Job Location: Miami - 5200 Blue Lagoon Drive - Miami, FL 33126 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: Graduate Degree Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $140,000.00 Salary/year Position Summary The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) serves as the primary psychiatric provider for the Mobile Medication‑Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program. This position is responsible for psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication‑assisted treatment (MAT), induction services, psychotropic medication management, supportive medication management, and ongoing psychiatric follow‑up care. The PMHNP functions as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team and works collaboratively with the Supervising Psychiatrist, RN Program Coordinator, Admissions Therapist, LPN, Case Manager/Appointment Specialist, and Peer Induction Specialists to provide comprehensive, recovery‑oriented treatment services for individuals experiencing opioid use disorder and co‑occurring behavioral health conditions. Services may be provided through a combination of office‑based visits, telehealth services, and community‑based treatment coordination. Essential Job Functions Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations. Complete diagnostic assessments. Evaluate substance use history and treatment needs. Assess risk factors including overdose risk, relapse risk, and psychiatric stability. Develop individualized treatment recommendations. Initiate and manage MAT services. Conduct buprenorphine inductions and stabilization protocols. Monitor response to treatment. Adjust treatment plans based on clinical response. Monitor medication adherence and effectiveness. Address withdrawal symptoms and craving management. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications when clinically indicated. Prescribe supportive medications according to program protocols. Review medication effectiveness, side effects, and adherence. Review medication safety and diversion concerns. Provide medication education to clients. Review urine drug screening results. Monitor treatment progress and recovery goals. Identify concerns requiring higher levels of care. Coordinate relapse intervention planning when appropriate. Assess ongoing treatment engagement and retention. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning. Collaborate with nursing staff, case management, admissions, and peer services. Provide clinical recommendations regarding treatment progression. Assist with transition planning into long‑term recovery services. Collaborate with the Supervising Psychiatrist regarding: Complex clinical cases Diagnostic clarification Medication consultation High‑risk clients Clinical quality improvement Participate in case conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings. Complete psychiatric evaluations in a timely manner. Complete medication management documentation. Maintain accurate clinical records in the electronic health record. Complete required regulatory and program documentation. Support implementation of Mobile MAT policies and procedures. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Embrace and embody the Mission Statement, Guiding Principles, Clinical Vision, and Goals of WestCare Foundation. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Excellent clinical assessment skills. Strong psychiatric diagnostic abilities. Must hold and maintain an active Drivers License. Knowledge of Medication‑Assisted Treatment (MAT). Knowledge of substance use disorders and co‑occurring disorders. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team. Excellent communication skills. Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment. Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Proficiency with telehealth technology and electronic health records. Demonstrated knowledge of theoretical and practical concepts of individual, group and family behavior. Demonstrated ability to deal with crisis situations. Knowledge to deal with difficult people. Demonstrated ability to handle a client concern/grievance according to agency protocol. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co‑workers, external partners, and regulatory agencies. Demonstrates respect for individuals with varied identities when conducting assessments, developing Wellness and Recovery Plans, and providing services. Understands that individuals with distinct community backgrounds define and perceive family and its importance differently. Demonstrates ability to work effectively with individuals with distinct community backgrounds. Ability to use trauma‑informed care principles including ensuring consumer safety, preventing/avoiding re‑traumatization, maximizing trustworthiness, enhancing consumer choice, maximizing collaboration, and emphasizing empowerment. Ability to identify and describe key signs, symptoms, impact and manifestations of trauma. Aware of the differences between trauma‑informed and trauma‑specific services. Understands the bidirectional relationships among substance use and mental disorders and trauma. Education, Experience and Certifications Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program required. Experience in behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment preferred. Experience with Medication‑Assisted Treatment preferred. Experience providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management preferred. Experience with telehealth services preferred. Must hold and maintain an active Florida APRN license required. Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP‑BC) required. Active DEA Registration required. Active NPI Number required. Ability to obtain credentialing through WestCare and contracted payers. Working Conditions Work is performed in professional office settings, telehealth environments, and community‑based treatment settings. Occasional travel may be required. Flexible scheduling may be required to support client needs and program operations. Physical Demands Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing, walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems required which includes coordination of eye and hand and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, working with files). Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations using approved physical de‑escalation techniques. Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word. Talking required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities requiring detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. Requires hearing: Hearing required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication. Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance. This factor required to complete paperwork for many essential job functions and to observe client behavior and activities in and out of facility. Normal work routine involves no exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissues, but exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available. Mental Demands Requires ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions. Requires ability to work and cooperate with clients, co‑workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels to exchange ideas, information, instructions, and opinions. Requires ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings.
