Duties and Responsibilities include cleaning, cutting, preparing, and cooking meat, fish, or poultry to a safe temperature, preparing and cooking various items according to menus, special dietary or nutritional requirements, or numbers of portions to be served, baking breads, rolls, and pastries, portioning and serving food to residents, guests and team members, washing cooking equipment such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other pieces, inventorying supplies and equipment, determining, or assisting in determining meals and menus, ensuring the cleanliness and functional operation of galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas by routinely cleaning and inspecting each piece, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook, excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures, basic understanding of food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures, ability to work quickly and efficiently, ability to work well as part of a team, ability to work well under pressure, and ability to maintain personal cleanliness. Culinary school diploma preferred.

Working Conditions include working in a fast-paced kitchen with exposure to heat, flames, cold temperatures, slippery floors and sharp cooking tools, working in close contact with others, and complying with food safety regulations, which include appropriate clothing and protective gear such as hairnets, masks, disposable gloves and slip-resistant shoes.
