COURT SECURITY OFFICER Under the direction of the Civil Division Courts Sergeant, the Court Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the security of designated county buildings by monitoring the conduct of the public and detainees. This position is covered as defined by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

- Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Allen County Courts, county employees, the public, and county inmates, in designated Allen County buildings. (Currently the Allen County Courthouse, the Bud Meeks Justice Center, and the Allen County Court Annex).
- Responsible for running the respective Building Entry Security Systems, (X-Ray machine; Magnetometer), to ensure that only authorized items and individuals gain access to the buildings.
- Responsible for the documentation and storage of seized contraband.
- Acts as a liaison to the public, answering questions and directing individuals to their respective designations.
- Responsible for enforcing federal, state and local laws.
- Responsible for completing required investigations, and or arrests, pursuant to the protection of the
- Responsible for the placement of items into evidence.
- Responsible for properly completing all ACPD required paperwork.
- Responsible for the utilization of the respective security camera systems.
- Responsible for Clerk's Office money escorts, (minimum of twice a day).
- Responsible to perform court bailiff duties.
- Responsible for the transportation of court detainees.
- Responsible for providing security for Allen County Preservation Trust events.
- Responsible for the maintenance of a building key inventory.
- Responsible to perform all other duties, as required.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior law enforcement experience, court security, military or any other government building
- Valid Driver's license to transport detainees
- Ability to qualify with department issued handgun and re-qualify annually
- Ability to pass law enforcement basic course
- Knowledge of court building security and law enforcement
- Ability to be trained and sworn as a "Special Deputy" for the Allen County Sheriff's Department
- Must be 21 years of age or older in order to be trained and sworn as a "Special Deputy"
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to act quickly and effectively
- Ability to use handgun, handcuffs, electronic detection devices and other job related equipment
- Ability to be CPR and AED certified.
