Physical Therapist: Inpatient & Outpatient Rehab

Physical Therapist - Full Time Position Summary This position requires the Physical Therapist to be responsible for the daily evaluation, treatment and management of the hospital physical therapy department including, in‑patient and out‑patient, as assigned. Responsibilities Obtains complete/pertinent patient history, efficient and thorough with evaluation procedures. Modifies evaluation according to patient age, disability, comprehension, cooperation and medical status. Demonstrates competency in following evaluation techniques: inpatient/acute, outpatient/geriatric, outpatient/pulmonary, outpatient/orthopedic. Synthesizes evaluation findings to identify problem list and prioritize patient problems. Establishes realistic objective short‑ and long‑term goals with time frames and functional rationale. Demonstrates ability to prioritize within a treatment session; reacts to patient’s status in each treatment session. Positions and drapes patient for maximum comfort, safety and effectiveness. Demonstrates appropriate skills in patient/family teaching. Demonstrates competency in following: Electrotherapy, Massage, ADL training, Transfers, Ambulation, Therapeutic exercise, Exercise equipment, Pulmonary rehabilitation, Joint mobilization. Accurately forecasts relevant operating and personnel conditions. Responsible for overseeing daily work performance of assistants, aides and support staff. Prepares, implements and monitors staff work schedules. Communicates with key personnel about department issues. Is tactful and diplomatic. Maintains effective written and oral communication throughout the organization and in public. Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department. Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations. Participates in in‑service programs. Physical Demands Must possess ability to perform maximum assist in transferring patients via wheelchair and maneuver equipment within and between departments. Demonstrates strengthening, flexibility exercises and ambulation. Perform manual muscle testing and range of motion. Qualifications and Experience Required: DPT in Physical Therapy from an accredited university. Licensed and currently certified to practice in New York State. BLS AED certified. Preferred: Five (5) years’ experience in physical therapy. Pre‑employment Requirements Successfully complete pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Eastern Long Island’s Employee Health Services. Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references. Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen. Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings. Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s). Resume/CV should be included with the online application. Pay Range The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience.
