RN Med Surg Tele Nights

Overview Registered Nurse position at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Grapevine in the Med/Surg Tele unit. Fast‑paced, high acuity environment that offers opportunities for growth, mentorship, and collaborative learning. Patient Population Telemetry, Respiratory, COVID‑19, Pre/Post‑Surgical, Geriatrics, Gastrointestinal. Patient Ratios & Beds Patient ratio 1:4‑5 depending on acuity. 24 beds. Shift Full‑time nights, 7 pm‑7 am. Experience Required 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele acute care hospital experience. NIHSS experience preferred. Job Summary As an RN, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, assessing patient responses, securing patient transport, and following the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegation guidelines. Essential Functions Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting to achieve desired outcomes. Build therapeutic relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism with patients and families. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, assessing and documenting learning needs regularly. Collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop care plans, delegate tasks carefully, and follow up promptly. Employ problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and demonstrate commitment to growth and community service. Key Success Factors Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, and hospital policies. Proficiency in medical terminology, disease prevention, management, medications, and privacy laws. Excellent communication, social, and problem‑solving skills. Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program. RN license. BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of employment. 2 years recent Med Surg Tele acute care hospital experience; NIHSS experience preferred.
