Senior Cloud Operations Engineer II

Position Overview This Senior Cloud Operations Engineer role is central to scaling and maintaining REsurety's cloud-native infrastructure and continuous delivery capabilities. The position sits within the Engineering DevOps department and supports two distinct platforms. The primary focus is on implementing and automating robust, secure, and highly available cloud services, primarily leveraging expertise in AWS. The successful candidate will drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform, manage containerized applications using Docker/ECR/ECS, and build and optimize CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions). This role requires a strong blend of development and operations skills to ensure system stability through comprehensive monitoring (CloudWatch, GuardDuty, OpenSearch), rigorous troubleshooting, and proactive integration of security practices (DevSecOps) throughout the entire software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities CI/CD Pipelines: Develop, maintain, and optimize continuous integration and delivery processes to automate code deployments. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Monitoring and Observability: Implement logging, alerting, and monitoring to track application performance and ensure system uptime. Containerization & Orchestration: Manage application containers (Docker) and orchestration platforms, ECR/ECS. Automation & Troubleshooting: Automate routine manual processes, perform root cause analysis, and resolve production errors. Security (DevSecOps): Integrate security checks, perform compliance scans, and vulnerability testing directly into the deployment pipeline. Required Experience & Qualifications Development Operations, Software Engineering and Systems Engineering. Scripting/Programming: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Cloud Platforms: Deep knowledge of AWS Cloud Architecture, experience in Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Tools: Familiarity with GitHub, Atlassian, Jenkins, Docker, SonarQube, Terraform, and Jfrog. Collaboration: Strong communication skills to act as a bridge between development and operations teams. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field preferred. Work in the Boston office three days per week - We are a hybrid office - in the Boston office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Remote on Wednesdays and Fridays (unless you want to work in the Boston office on those days). Preferred Qualifications CI/CD: Jenkins, BitBucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions. IaC: Preferred Terraform, or experience with Ansible, Chef, or Puppet. Cloud: Preferred AWS, or experience in Azure or GCP. Containerization: Preferred Docker, or experience with Kubernetes. Compensation, Benefits and Location The base compensation range for this position is $137,700-$152,000. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This range does not include annual bonus, equity-based incentives, and benefits.
