RN Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients across varying levels of risk. The role involves collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure patient and family-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Nurses are expected to float among OB/GYN units to meet fluctuating patient volume and acuity. A minimum of two years of labor and delivery experience is required, with operating room and triage experience highly desirable. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including high, moderate, and low risk cases.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
• Participate in patient and family-centered care practices.
• Maintain competencies across various modes of care and delivery within the OB service.
• Float among OB/GYN units as needed to accommodate variable patient volume and acuity.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of two years' experience in labor and delivery nursing.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in operating room (OR) nursing.
• Experience in triage nursing within obstetrics.

Special Considerations:

• Floating among OB/GYN units is an ongoing expectation to meet patient care needs.
• Commitment to patient and family-centered care is essential.

Scheduling:

• 12-hour shifts, 4 days per week.
• All rotating shift schedules within the Labor & Delivery unit.
