Responsibilities

• Leads audits covering Payment Network operations (e.g., Participant On‑Boarding, Participant Monitoring, Settlement, Pricing).
• Develops engagement planning documentation to communicate rationale for scoping decisions and audit programs that ensure adequate coverage of risk.
• Designs and executes internal control testing for audits, demonstrating a degree of audit expertise consistent with experience level; identifies and implements efficiencies in executing test work.
• Supervises and coordinates work assignments among audit team members; provides timely feedback and coaching to audit staff.
• Establishes and maintains good auditee relations; effectively communicates audit process, scope, protocol, issues, risks and recommendations during kick‑off, periodic status updates, and exit meetings.
• Assesses relevancy of audit findings, potential exposures, materiality, trends, and demonstrates awareness of big‑picture issues; interprets business priorities and applies them to the scope of work.
• Manages timely and quality delivery of multiple tasks, including audits, projects, special assignments, and administrative activities; self‑prioritizes and independently completes multiple tasks across the team and department; demonstrates ability to meet deadlines.

Travel Expectations

Associate will be expected to travel an average of 10‑15% of the time.

Hybrid Working

Role is hybrid, with associates typically spending 3 days per week in‑person at one of the designated Capital One offices.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in auditing, accounting, or financial analysis, or a combination of these.
• At least 2 years of experience leading audits and performing in the role of auditor‑in‑charge.
• At least 1 year of people‑management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
• 10+ years of internal audit experience.
• 5+ years of experience in banking or in the financial services industry.
• 5+ years of people‑management experience.
• 2+ years of experience performing data analysis in support of internal auditing.
