Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description Position Purpose Supervises two or more full-time employees in an assigned plant or department. Plans and coordinates activities of workers to perform maintenance services, installation or repairs in one or more skill areas such as plumbing, mechanical, electrical repairs, pneumatic, hydraulic, installation, carpentry, painting or vehicle servicing. Primary Duties/Responsibilities Perform job duties in a safe manner compliant with policies, procedures and practices. Model professional behavior; report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to work. Commitment to promoting and creating a safety centric culture and positive work environment. Select, supervise and train staff to ensure implementation of management directives and the ongoing availability of qualified staff. Develop, administer and manage departmental budget. Interact with other front‑line supervisors, managers, operators and shift supervisors to guarantee the efficient, safe and permit compliant operation of the system. Interact with client as necessary for reporting on, maintaining or operating the system in an efficient, safe and permit compliant manner. Fill in for absent supervisors as directed. Support client capital projects. Required to be administratively proficient and detailed‑oriented to manage key performance indicators along with project management. Participate in the development of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual work schedule. Comfortable dealing with the competing priorities and missions within the company. Direct assigned staff and contractors in the performance of approved maintenance activities, including pre‑planned and unplanned work on a daily basis. Maintain a safe, neat and clean work environment including work area and equipment. Instruct staff in the best methods, materials, tools and equipment required. Provide feedback, coaching, opportunity, and decision‑making authority to employees to keep them actively engaged and able to improve their work situation and company processes. Act fairly and deal objectively with workplace situations. Effectively discipline employees as needed. Other duties as may be assigned. Work Environment Incumbent will be exposed to varied temperature extremes, noise, fumes, odors, confined spaces, elevated heights, depths (up to 300 ft underground), dust, sitting for prolonged times in front of the computer. Spends 50% of time in operations environment and 50% of time in an office environment. May need to work outside in inclement weather conditions and drive company vehicle to perform duties. Occasional travel for training or meetings. This function is largely in an industrial environment. Requires frequent visits to maintenance and repair locations. Qualifications Education and Experience Background High School Diploma/GED is required. Degree in a related field or equivalent related experience. Three to seven years in various positions within a chemical processing or water/wastewater treatment environment with knowledge of methods, principles and practices of operating, maintaining and repairing plant equipment, instrumentation and associated systems. Lead experience or supervisory training required with understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation and health and safety. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of process engineering, water quality assurance, maintenance strategy and laboratory procedures. Effective skills in troubleshooting, problem solving and team building. General knowledge of budget preparation and cost control. Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel. Ability to prepare accurate, timely, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports. Proficiency in the use of all site‑specific, facility‑required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment). PC skills and knowledge of Google Workspace, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software for preparing work‑related reports, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements. Ability to use computer systems for preparing work orders and purchase requisitions. Serve rotational 24‑hour emergency on‑call if required by site. Commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures. Physical Requirements Bending, standing, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, walking, climbing and balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling and smelling. Additional Information Pay Range: $110000 to $120000 per year.
