Registered Nurse (Psych Nursing) We are a 12‑bed residential care facility for adolescent clients ages 13‑18 on the autism spectrum. Our clients are high‑functioning on the autism spectrum. Maple Lake Academy for Boys is a treatment center dedicated to working with adolescents and their families. Who we are Maple Lake Academy for Boys is a residential treatment center for adolescent boys 13 to 18 years old on the autistic spectrum. Our students are high‑functioning children dealing with deficits in social skills and life skills, with an inability to understand their own emotions. We provide a safe and nurturing home‑like environment for our students to learn skills that push them in the areas mentioned above. Our team works with our client population daily, hands‑on, and in one‑to‑one situations. The Registered Nurse Role The RN oversees nursing operations of Maple Lake Academy for Boys while on shift, which includes directly managing the medical care of the students ages 13‑18. The RN is responsible for medical emergencies and the general medical needs of the students and works directly with the psychiatrist and pharmacy to maintain medication orders and all medication management at Maple Lake Academy. Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties Work closely with the psychiatrist/medical director for medication management. Provide a safe and nurturing environment for clients. Coordinate appointments. Engage in weekly treatment team meetings and communicate pertinent information. Administer minor first aid to employees on campus as needed and triage any on‑the‑job accidents/injuries to determine if they need to be sent to Work Med. Monitor immunizations. Administer medication and manage medication administration. Count narcotics. Work directly with supervisors who administer medication; conduct a quarterly training with supervisors on medication administration. Monitor resident cleanliness, hygiene, and safety. Communicate directly with parents about medical concerns, needs, appointments, changes in medication, etc. Respond to parent calls in a timely and professional manner. Respond to reports of pain or illness as they arise with clients. Determine when a client should be placed on bedrest due to illness. Assess ill clients. Monitor vital signs and weight of clients. Coordinate pharmacy and labs. Communicate with the treatment team. Maintain records for infection control and staff illness. Prepare and maintain medical files for Joint Commission audits. Wednesday – Flexible hours. Thursday – Flexible hours. Friday – Flexible hours. Education Requirements Associate, bachelor’s degree, or master’s. Active Utah license as a registered nurse. Preferred Experience Experience in nursing (preferred). Psych nursing experience preferred, or strong desire to learn. Must be comfortable with psychiatric medications.
