Athletic Trainer (Certified) (ATC)

Government/Military Athletic Trainer (Certified) (ATC) Reef Systems is seeking to identify a collaborative team (Physical Therapist/Injury Manager, Athletic Trainer (Certified) ATC, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Sports Performance Psychologist) to provide Human Performance Program Services performing injury prevention and mitigation, rehabilitation services, and human performance optimization services to personnel assigned to the 125th Special Tactics Squadron (STS) in Portland, OR. Schedule Services are to be provided between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Monday through Friday and during the squadron’s Regularly Scheduled Drills (RSDs), except on recognized holidays or when the Government facility/installation is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government-directed facility/installation closings. Recognized Holidays Recognized Holidays: The following are recognized United States (US) holidays. The contractor shall not perform services on these days: New Year’s Day: January 1st Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday President’s Day Memorial Day Independence Day: July 4th Labor Day Columbus Day Veteran’s Day: November 11th Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day: December 25 th Personal Time Off Additionally, Reef Systems provides ten (10) days of personal time off (PTO). Performance Requirements Provide coverage of the Human Performance Program services. Maintain a clean and safe Human Performance Program area. All Human Performance Program equipment and facilities will be cleaned daily and as needed with Tuberculocidal/bactericidal/virucidal/fungicidal cleanser. Shall maintain a current file on all personnel seeking treatment and increasing their performance so they can track their progress and that identifies rehabilitation strategies. The ATC shall combine their programs with the PT/IM and SCS in order to develop the most appropriate individual rehabilitation/functional fitness individual plan. The ATC shall provide copies of all required documentation to the unit Flight Doctor weekly. The Contractor shall also provide reporting that demonstrates utilization of Human Performance Program Services, to include Opportunities for Training and Education vs. Actual Use. Perform initial physical assessment in order to recognize the structural pathology and severity of acute injury. Refer injured operators IAW unit protocol. Initial assessments should be done ASAP post injury recognizing that the ATC may not be co-located with the member at the time of their injury. Implement appropriate emergency injury and illness techniques IAW standards and protocols established by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Perform secondary assessment and employ appropriate management strategies for non-life threatening injuries or illness IAW standards and protocols established by NATABOC. Formulate differential diagnosis based on the results of the initial or secondary assessment IAW standards and protocols established by NATABOC. Communicate the nature of injury or illness and the resulting treatment plan to the patient and the PT/IM IAW standards and protocols established by NATABOC and unit protocols. Design and fabricate protective pads, equipment, and braces to help prevent and treat injuries; including the use of taping techniques within the ATC’s scope of practice, in accordance with the documented treatment plan. Provide guidance to help prevent injury and to maximize the operators’ physical conditioning and performance in accordance with the documented treatment plan. Participate in weekly and monthly meetings to review the care provided to the STS and identify opportunities for improvement. Should a meeting occur outside of regular working hours, the ATC is responsible for reviewing the information disseminated in the meeting. Serve as an advisor to the unit medical staff in matters related to injury prevention, sports medicine and rehabilitation. Collaborate throughout the POTFF community to enhance the quality of patient care delivered. Conduct equipment, product, and literature reviews to ensure the Human Performance Program stays current with the provision of care. Information shall be provided to support recommendations and comments on equipment as part of the quarterly reports. Participate in the collection and reporting of workload data as part of the quarterly utilization report. Ensure safe and effective operation of equipment used for patient care and contributes to a safe working environment at all times. Document care in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide documentation to assist unit medical staff documenting care and injury details in members’ military medical record as required. Qualifications Athletic Trainer (Certified) (ATC) Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Athletic Training from an accredited college or university and National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certified. Additional credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association or as a certified Sports Performance Coach through the United States of America Weightlifting Association (USAWA) preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of paid professional experience working with elite level athletes within the SOF community, NCAA, or professional sports, as a certified ATC. Internship hours/experience will not be considered professional experience. Demonstrated history of performing orthopedic assessment and manual therapy, trigger point dry needling, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial techniques, sports massage, muscle energy techniques and functional taping. Capable of meeting physical demands of training with SOF including the ability to hike over rough terrain and function in austere environments to observe SOF training evolutions, ability to assist with strength and conditioning testing and training protocols and ability to lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms. 1.4.7.2.6 Current certification in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to include Automated External Device (AED) training.
