Use Your Lived Experience to Change Lives in Your Community Do you enjoy helping others gain independence and confidence? As a Peer Interventionist, you'll play a key role in empowering young adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) to safely navigate their communities using public transportation.In this hands-on role, you'll teach travel skills, build confidence, and support individuals as they gain the tools they need to live more independently. What You'll DoTeach a structured travel training curriculum to young adults (18+) with IDDProvide one-on-one, in-the-community coaching using public transportationTravel throughout Manchester and surrounding areas via Manchester Transit Authority (MTA)Help participants build confidence, independence, and mobility skillsTrack progress and stay organized to meet project goals and deadlinesParticipate in training and ongoing program developmentWhat We're Looking ForAt least 1 year of regular experience using MTA public transportation (minimum twice per week)Familiarity with MTA routes, schedules, and appsA strong passion for mentoring and supporting individuals with IDDExcellent communication, organization, and time management skillsAbility to work independently and flexibly in the communityAdditional RequirementsAbility to pass a background checkCommitment to maintaining GSIL policies, safety practices, and professionalismWillingness to take on additional duties that support independent living for people with disabilitiesWhat Makes You a Great FitYou have lived experience with IDD (preferred for peer-based role)You're comfortable traveling frequently throughout ManchesterYou enjoy making meaningful connections and helping others growEducation:High school diploma or equivalent requiredEquivalent combination of education and experience consideredAbout UsGranite State Independent Living is a statewide non-profit and New Hampshire's only Center for Independent Living, we stay close to our roots with a focus on our 5 core services of education, information, advocacy, support, and transition services for people with disabilities and underserved youth. We carry out our mission through our Home Care Services, Community-Based Disability Supports and Employment Services.
