ELECTRONICS MECHANIC LEADER

Department of the Navy – Honolulu, HI (effective 2026-05-21). You will serve as an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC LEADER (EXPERT) at various Naval Shipyards including Portsmouth, Puget Sound, Norfolk, and Pearl Harbor. Duties Apply advanced trade knowledge and techniques to operate, understand capabilities and limitations of electronic equipment and systems. Guide, train and mentor shop personnel in the removal, disassembly, overhaul, troubleshooting, modification, repair, installation, and testing of electronic equipment. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures; instruct on new procedures and provide guidance when problems arise. Setup, operate and troubleshoot the various types of equipment used to manufacture and overhaul surface and sub‑surface ship components. Use technical manuals and specifications to determine requirements and maintain quality control. Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. New employees must pass the E‑Verify employment verification check. Must comply with DoD retirement policy for former military members. Male applicants born after 12‑31‑59 must register for Selective Service. You may be a bargaining unit employee. Must be able to complete a pre‑appointment physical examination. Must obtain and maintain an interim or final security clearance prior to duty. Must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug test (including marijuana). Failure or inability to report may rescind offer. Must wear required personal protective equipment at all times during the work shift. May work in areas with harmful physical or chemical agents; must be eligible for medical surveillance. May encounter high noise levels. May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to fly on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods. May be required to work uncommon tours, nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime or night differential pay may apply. Qualifications The position requires experience and training that demonstrate the necessary level of knowledge, skills, and expertise to perform the duties at the required level.
