Database administrators store and organize data such as financial data and customer shipping records using advanced software. They ensure the data is accessible to users and that it is protected from unauthorized access. Job Overview We are seeking a Database Administrator to join our team! You will be responsible for testing and implementing computer databases. Assist with planning to migrate from existing application versions to the latest application versions including configuration. DBAs must develop backup and recovery plans and protocols based on industry best practices, then ensure that all steps are taken. A DBA must be aware of the database software’s and the company’s overall system’s possible flaws and seek to mitigate risks. Control who has access and what type of access they are allowed. A DBA’s ongoing system maintenance includes monitoring databases for performance problems. In the event of any issue, DBAs are responsible for troubleshooting. Database Administrator Responsibilities Administer, test, and implement computer databases Coordinate changes to computer databases Implement security measures to safeguard computer databases Create and manage database schemes, tables, procedures and permissions Execute database mirroring, backups, failover, replication, and disaster recovery tasks Restore and recover corrupted tables or databases Implement database security Install upgrades and patches Create shell scripts for task automation Proactively install, test, evaluate and recommend new database technologies Communicate and collaborate regularly with the staff in order to ensure database integrity, security and optimization Analyze and maintain capacity and performance requirements Work with Senior technical resources (architects, Senior DBAs) to document and design database architecture for current and new applications Clearly and effectively report on the progress of projects assigned Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance Identify database requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems Maintain database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products Write and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata) Develop, manage, and test database backup and recovery plans Manage access and permissions on databases Commission and install new applications and customizing existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards Execute professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the‑art practices; participating in professional societies Develop and maintain custom SSRS reports that report on data from various applications. Database Administrator Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology preferred; or equivalent work experience Must have extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server versions 2005 / 2008 R2 / 2012/ 2016 / 2019 Must have some experience administering Windows Server 2008/2012/2019 Operating Systems Must have experience with scripting (T-SQLs, PowerShell, database scripting, etc.) Certifications for Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration is a plus Experience with optimizing database deployments in Cloud environments is a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Learn quickly when facing new problems; a versatile learner who is open to change; analyzes both successes and failures for clues to improvement Critical thinking skills to recognize patterns and anomalies in data and arrive at new conclusions based upon findings Through fast-paced, result-oriented work; should be counted on to exceed goals successfully Effective communication skills both verbal and written to communicate complex findings and ideas in logical, easy to understand and actionable language Attention to detail and observant about drawing the correct conclusions Ability to multitask and prioritize projects with conflicting deadlines A team player with the ability and desire to collaborate effectively with the staff #J-18808-Ljbffr License Lookup
