Sr. Lead Mechanical Engineer

About the Role: As the Sr. Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will own the mechanical design strategy and execution for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring solutions are efficient, code-compliant, and aligned with client objectives. You will lead and mentor a design team, coordinate closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the project lifecycle. In addition to technical leadership, you will play a key role in business development by partnering with existing and prospective clients, identifying project opportunities, developing proposals, preparing scopes of work and contracts, and supporting efforts to secure new business. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design of HVAC and plumbing systems from schematic design through construction documents and construction support. Manage and design multiple concurrent projects, balancing scope, schedule, and technical quality. Direct and coordinate design team efforts, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and ensuring adherence to standards and best practices. Manage project teams for budget and schedule control, tracking progress and implementing corrective actions as needed. Develop fee and qualification-based proposals, including scope definition, level-of-effort estimates, and technical approach. Ensure all mechanical designs conform to applicable mechanical, energy, and plumbing codes as well as client standards. Read, interpret, and prepare project drawings, including ductwork plans, piping plans, sections, isometric piping drawings, and bills of materials. Perform HVAC load calculations and system analysis using standard industry software and tools, and integrate results into design decisions. Conduct business development activities, including client meetings, presentations, and support for proposal development. Key Requirements: Extensive experience in the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for building projects. Proven ability to manage and design multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong capability to interpret and produce technical drawings and construction documents. Demonstrated experience leading design teams and coordinating with multi-disciplinary project teams. Solid understanding of mechanical, energy, and plumbing codes and their application to building system design. Proficiency with HVAC load calculation software and standard industry analysis tools. Strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts clearly. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to work effectively with digital project information. Understanding of database concepts and comfort working with marketing databases and proposal resource files. Experience with AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical system modeling and documentation. Experience with energy modeling tools and methodologies. Local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) experience and established relationships. Active involvement in local industry or professional organizations. Formal project management experience and/or certifications (e.g., PMP or similar). Demonstrated success leading inter-disciplinary projects and cross-functional project teams. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering (required). 10 to 15 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including significant building systems design. #J-18808-Ljbffr
