Food Service Worker

Department: Food and Nutrition

Reports to: Cafeteria Manager

Placement: Classified Non-exempt Salary Schedule

Position Summary: The Food Service Worker provides support in the campus Food and Nutrition Department by performing assigned duties.

Essential Functions:

• Washes and cleans equipment, food preparation areas and cafeteria tables, while maintaining the highest possible standards of sanitation.
• Operates all food preparation equipment in a safe manner.
• Operates cash register and makes change.
• Serves and prepares, as needed, all food required in the food services program.
• Works with student helpers.
• Works in cooperation with, and communicates with, school staff, parents, and students to promote a positive school climate.
• Shelves individual commercial cans of food and other foodstuffs
• Uses cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with specified safety protocols.
• Ensures that all work is completed in accordance with District policy and applicable state and federal laws.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Training and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of required training where applicable.
• Previous experience in a similar position preferred.
