SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS

Bus DriverAnticipated Start Date: As soon as possibleDetails: 9.5-month support staff positions with district-recognized holidays and paid sick leave. Leave may be prorated based on start date. These are full-time, approximately 25 hours per week positions, with a district provided benefits package that includes employee health, dental, life and vision insurance.Compensation: According to the 2026-27 Support Staff Pay Schedule within the Bus Driver range. Placement within the range is based on like experience. The starting hourly rate for this position is $22.85.Job Summary: To provide safe and efficient transportation by driving in a careful and prudent manner and exercising the highest degree of care so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district curriculum and extra-curricular program.Qualifications:Possessing a valid commercial driver license (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsement (S&P) OR being able to acquire appropriate licensing, endorsement, and training is requiredA high school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferredPrior school bus driving experience is preferredThe ability to perform the essential job functions & be at least 21 years old is requiredThe ability to manage the physical demands of the job and pass a physical health exam and drug test is required; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable performance of the essential functionsThe ability to present a certificate annually from a health examiner indicating that they are physically qualified to operate district vehicles to transport students is required of applicantsThe ability to be dependable and punctual is requiredThe ability to work independently, use good judgment, think quickly, and respond to situations in a calm manner is requiredThe ability to remain flexible & positive with the demands of the job without losing sight of the assignment is requiredThe ability to effectively supervise children is requiredThe ability to communicate effectively with students in redirecting and using positive reinforcement is requiredThe ability to work with a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population is requiredThe ability to maintain confidential information is requiredThe ability to work as a team player and communicate with staff and parents is requiredThe ability to develop effective working relationships with students and the school community is requiredThe willingness to complete job-related training as needed is requiredAffton School District is an equal opportunity employer & E-Verify participant
