Position Overview NC State Extension extends research‑based knowledge to all North Carolinians, helping them transform science into everyday solutions that improve their lives and grow our state. This role is open at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Agent level, depending on qualifications. Duties and Responsibilities The Livestock Extension Agent will provide leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and informational assistance related to livestock production and management, including swine, cattle, goats, sheep, forages, and pasture management. Responsibilities include planning and marketing programs with measurable impacts, collaborating with the 4‑H Agent on youth programming, managing educational outreach, and traveling frequently within and occasionally outside the county. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 overall or 3.0 in an agricultural or related field (or waiver for Program Associates). Or a Bachelor's degree with at least half of a Master’s curriculum completed and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in an agricultural or related field. Or a Master’s or higher degree in an agricultural or related field. Strong background in livestock production, forage and pasture management, and youth livestock programming. Excellent oral and written communication, public relations/marketing, leadership, time‑management, organization, technology, and networking skills. Valid NC driver’s license required. Compensation Base salary ranges: Minimum Bachelor’s $40,000; Minimum Master’s $45,000; Minimum Doctorate $50,000, commensurate with experience.
