The role

You are the lead hands-on technician for our federal AV maintenance contracts in the Washington metro area. This is a senior, multi-manufacturer role: we are looking for a CTS-certified technician with base-level credentials across most of Crestron, Q-SYS, HP/Poly, Cisco, AMX, and Extron, who can serve as our on-site SME engineer. You run a weekly preventive-maintenance circuit through about 250 conference rooms at one federal campus in Suitland, respond on site within 24 hours to conference-room and operations-center incidents across the region, lead small installation and relocation jobs, and act as the senior technician to our surge technicians. You report to the Director of Operations and work directly with our SME engineer and service desk. This is a multi-year, funded role on contracts running through 2027, with options through 2031.

What you will do

• Run a weekly on-site preventive-maintenance circuit (50 visits a year) across Microsoft Teams Rooms, Crestron-controlled rooms, AMX/SVSI AV-over-IP rooms, Q-SYS DSP rooms, divisible training rooms, and auditoriums: function tests, cleaning, connector reseating, firmware checks with customer approval, and complete room records the same day
• Respond on site within 24 hours to incidents dispatched by our service desk; diagnose signal flow, control, DSP, and network issues; swap spares; restore service and close the ticket with photos and notes
• Serve as the primary on-call technician on a rotation for after-hours incidents at priority rooms
• Lead installation, relocation and refresh work for Poly Studio X series rooms, displays, cameras, ceiling microphones and control panels; terminate and certify Cat-6A, HDMI and speaker cabling; build and dress racks to AVIXA standards
• Keep the customer equipment database current after every move, add, or change; manage spares, RMAs, and advance replacements with our procurement lead
• Read AV one-line drawings and rack elevations; red-line as-builts and hand them to engineering
• Direct surge technicians on site: assignments, quality checks, safety and customer-conduct rules under Government escort
• Perform a 30-day configuration baseline with the customer: export Q-SYS designs, back up AMX/Crestron programs and SVSI encoder/decoder configurations, and keep them in our repository
• Report daily to the service desk and contribute to monthly preventive-maintenance and ticket reports

Required qualifications

• 5 or more years of hands-on technical AV field experience with conference-room, video conferencing, and control systems (a contract requirement; your resume must show it)
• AVIXA CTS certification, current (CTS-I preferred)
• Base-level manufacturer certification or completed manufacturer training in at least four of the following six, with the remaining two completed within 90 days of hire at company expense: Crestron (Technician or Core certification), QSC Q-SYS Level 1, HP/Poly (Poly Video Fundamentals or equivalent), Cisco (Webex Room devices/collaboration technician), AMX (ACE or NetLinx training), Extron (AV Associate)
• Demonstrated troubleshooting of Crestron control and DM/NVX, AMX NetLinx and SVSI, QSC Q-SYS, Shure MXA/MXW microphones, Poly/HP video endpoints and Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows
• Field installation skills: cable termination and testing, display and camera mounting, rack fabrication, reading one-line drawings
• Able to pass a background check and work under continuous Government escort in federal office space; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status as required for site access
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, reliable daily arrival at Suitland, MD for a 7:45 AM start
• Able to lift 75 lb, work on ladders and lifts, and stand or kneel for extended periods
• Professional, calm and clear with customers; disciplined about documentation

Preferred qualifications

• AVIXA CTS or CTS-I; Crestron DM-NVX or DMC-E-4K; Q-SYS Level 1-2; AMX ACE-E or SVSI; Extron Control Professional; Poly Certified Video Engineer
• AutoCAD or other AV drawing experience for red-lines and as-builts
• OSHA 10 and lift certification
• Experience leading a two-person crew or surge technicians
• Prior federal or cleared-facility work
