Mammography Technologist

Job Summary:

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic mammographic procedures in a short-term acute care setting. This role involves operating imaging equipment to produce high-quality mammograms for the detection and diagnosis of breast diseases. The technologist will collaborate with radiologists and healthcare teams to ensure accurate imaging and patient care. Attention to detail, patient communication, and adherence to safety protocols are essential for this position.

Responsibilities:

Perform diagnostic mammographic examinations according to established protocols and physician requests.
Operate and maintain mammography equipment ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns.
Position patients correctly to obtain optimal imaging results.
Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to review images and ensure diagnostic quality.
Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures in the electronic medical system.
Follow infection control and radiation safety guidelines to protect patients and staff.
Participate in quality assurance and continuing education activities to stay current with mammography standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Certification as a Mammography Technologist (ARRT or equivalent).
Experience in diagnostic mammography imaging.
Knowledge of radiation safety and mammography equipment operation.
Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Basic computer skills for electronic charting and documentation.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in a short-term acute care or trauma center setting.
Additional certifications in radiologic technology or related imaging modalities.
Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.

Special Considerations:

Shift hours are from 07:00 to 17:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
No on-call, weekend, or block schedules required.
Uniform/scrub color is flexible; business casual attire is acceptable.
Patient ratio expected is 1:1 during procedures.

Scheduling:

Work schedule consists of four 10.5-hour shifts per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 07:00 to 17:30.
No weekend or holiday shifts required.
