Barista (PT)

Description

If you love coffee then we believe you will love our coffee bar! We have an exciting position as a FT Barista at our Melville Store Espresso Bar! This position requires the individual to be 18 years of age or older and available with weekend/holiday flexibility.

Our Baristas are responsible for making and serving beverages to customers at Uncle G's Marketplace. This position will greet customers, prepare hot and cold beverages and serve the customer. Serving the customer with a smile and a friendly approach is necessary while performing all job functions and duties. Some food items are within the Espresso bar and may be served with a customer order.

Responsibilities

• The Barista will greet customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders
• Will prepare and serve beverages, ranging from simple to more complex drinks
• Promoting and recommending menu options to customers
• The Barista is responsible for processing payment from customers
• Maintaining inventory and equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs
• The Barista will keep the work environment sanitary and organized
• Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service
• The Barista will work to attract new customers and expanding the menu
• Additional duties and functions as assigned

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience working as a server or barista
• Excellent listening and communication skills
• A strong focus on customer satisfaction is required for this position
• Practice basic safety procedures with respect to equipment and handling hot beverages
• Must be efficient and organized
• Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
• Maintain a clean work environment
• Keep supplies replenished to minimize downtime

Working Conditions

• Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
• May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
• Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
