A Dental Hygienist plays a crucial role in oral healthcare by providing preventative dental care and educating patients on maintaining good oral hygiene. They work closely with dentists to ensure patients receive comprehensive dental care, focusing on cleaning teeth, examining for oral diseases, and promoting overall dental health.
Responsibilities
- Conduct oral health assessments and review patient medical histories
- Perform teeth cleaning, scaling, and polishing procedures
- Apply preventive materials such as sealants and fluorides
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive dental care
- Document patient care and treatment plans accurately
- Assist dentists during dental examinations and treatments
- Maintain infection control and sterilization protocols
- Stay updated with current dental practices and technologies
