About the Position

Job Opportunity – Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8/10/12 hour shifts available, 7:00pm-7:30am or 11:00pm-7:30am with flexibility. Monday-Friday OR Sunday through Thursday with no on-call requirements.

Highlights:

• Work in a state-of-the-art, Magnet-designated comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center
• Care for diverse surgical and procedural pediatric populations including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and adults
• Level I Pediatric Trauma Center experience with Epic EMR system
• Daily census of approximately 25 patients with extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• 24 hours of orientation provided with no weekend call requirements
• Work with nationally recognized pediatric specialists in a warm, healing environment designed specifically for children and families

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of pediatric PACU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Wisconsin RN license or active Compact RN license
• BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Previous travel experience required
• Must pass telemetry competency examination prior to start (strict passing criteria with multiple attempts allowed)
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Charge experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years acute care experience within the last 3 years in specialty
• Must reside 50 miles or more from facility (local candidates not accepted)

Clinical Skills:

• End-tidal CO2 monitoring, airway assessment, and placement of oral/nasal airways
• Extubation of LMA/ET tubes and care of ventilated patients
• Arterial line management and interpretation of ABGs
• Central line and PICC line care/management, accessing and managing ports
• Blood product administration and IV vasopressor management
• Starting and maintaining IVs, PCA pump management
• Dysrhythmia recognition/management and circulation checks
• Pain assessment and management including post-epidural care
• Experience with diverse surgical specialties: ENT, orthopedic/spine, neurosurgery, general surgery, gynecology, urology, plastics, and ophthalmology procedures
• Management of pediatric patients across all age groups
• Malignant hyperthermia protocol knowledge

Vaccination Requirements:

• COVID-19 vaccine: Not required
• Influenza vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions only)

• Floating to other units required as needed
