This contract role offers a flexible schedule, requiring approximately 10 hours per week, and welcomes both virtual and local candidates. In this position, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring accessibility for students by preparing materials in a timely and highly organized manner.

Key qualifications and experience:

• Demonstrated proficiency in braille transcription and interpretation within a school or educational setting
• Able to produce high-quality brailled materials with fast turnaround times—ideally staying 1-2 weeks ahead of curriculum needs
• Collaborative approach; comfortable working closely with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and broader educational teams
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in managing tasks and deadlines
• Familiarity with specialized systems and software is a plus, especially Rogue Embosser, Duxbury, HMH Reading/Math programs, and STEM educational materials

Primary responsibilities:

• Accurately transcribe and prepare learning materials in braille for classroom use, prioritizing efficiency and attention to detail
• Coordinate with TVI and educators to anticipate needs and adjust to curriculum schedules
• Maintain systematic records of completed and pending assignments to ensure consistent support
• Adapt to changing priorities and communicate effectively with staff and team members
• Utilize and troubleshoot specialized braille software and hardware as needed
