Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a school counselor in a dynamic educational environment near Palmer, Alaska. This full-time, contract opportunity runs through the full school year, and offers the flexibility to work on-site or virtually. You’ll play a pivotal role in the academic and social-emotional development of students with special education needs, providing essential counseling services to support their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

What’s Needed for Success:

• Active Alaska counseling license (must be current)
• Master’s degree in counseling or a related field
• Experience working with students in a school setting, preferably with special education populations
• Familiarity with designing and implementing IEP-based counseling supports
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with school teams and families
• Comfort with both virtual and in-person service delivery models

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized counseling services to students receiving special education support, as reflected in their IEPs
• Maintain accurate records of sessions and student progress
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to maximize student success
• Participate in IEP meetings, offering insight into students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Foster open communication with parents and guardians, providing resources and updates as appropriate
• Remain up-to-date with best practices in school counseling, special education, and compliance
