About the Position The Mississippi State Board of Contractors is the contractor licensing authority for the state and is comprised of ten members appointed to staggered terms by the Governor. The Board members are responsible for setting policy for the licensing standards. MSBOC protects consumers by licensing and regulating Mississippi’s construction industry through policies and procedures that promote the health, safety and general welfare of the public in matters relating to construction. This is seasoned professional investigative work conducting field and desk investigations, gathering documentation for evidence, and completing reports for agency accountability. Interviews individuals involved in criminal and administrative infractions. May appear as an expert witness in a disciplinary or court preliminary hearing. Establishes liaison with various law enforcement agencies and the compiling and acquiring of security information. May train employees on best policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Makes frequent contact with other governmental agencies, professional associations, and other entities involved. May operate in an “undercover” capacity while investigating. Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-6 years of investigative experience. What you'll need to be Successful Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred, along with strong typing and general computer skills. Candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple assignments while maintaining professionalism in interactions with the public, contractors, and other agencies. Preferred candidates will possess knowledge of or experience in the construction industry, including familiarity with construction practices, contractors, or related regulatory matters. Strong written and verbal communication skills are desired, as the position requires preparation of reports, correspondence, and investigative documentation. #J-18808-Ljbffr
