Imagine a career where your skills give voice to those in need — quite literally. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the heart of Philadelphia, you will do more than treat communication and swallowing disorders. Your work will empower individuals, restore confidence, and build lasting connections, from children taking their first steps in language to seniors rejuvenating their ability to communicate effectively.
This position presents a distinctive opportunity to work with a diverse population, addressing the needs of patients across the lifespan within a dynamic setting that combines outpatient treatment and occasional inpatient care. Whether your passion lies in nurturing pediatric language development, tackling adult neurogenic disorders, or engaging in geriatric cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation, you will find meaningful work and flexible scheduling in our program.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing standardized assessments and observational practices.
- Create tailor-made treatment plans that cater to both immediate milestones and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing requirements.
- Implement one-on-one interventions targeting various aspects of communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
- Work collaboratively with a team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and family members to foster comprehensive treatment strategies.
- Provide education and resources to patients and families, supporting progress beyond therapy sessions.
- Facilitate occasional inpatient speech therapy evaluations and treatments to ensure a seamless continuity of care.
- Maintain meticulous documentation that aligns with regulated standards and organizational policies.
- Engage in ongoing education and peer collaboration to stay informed about advancements in the field.
Educational Requirements
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is pending.
Certifications Needed
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Essential Skills
- Strong command of evidence-based treatment methodologies for patients of all ages, with a comprehensive understanding of speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Adaptive techniques that cater to varying cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Solid clinical decision-making and critical thinking capabilities.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation requirements.
Incentives and Benefits
- Competitive salary reflective of experience and expertise.
- Flexible work schedules to support a healthy work-life balance and diverse patient caseloads.
- Opportunities to specialize in pediatrics, adult rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
- Paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
- Access to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
- Support for ongoing education and professional growth.
- A collaborative team atmosphere that emphasizes the importance of quality care and lifelong learning.
Your Future is Waiting – Make a Move Towards Impact
In this role, you won't merely deliver speech therapy; you will become an integral part of a community-focused mission that aims to restore voices, enhance communication, and instill joy through the fundamental human experiences of understanding and being understood.
You'll collaborate with a team that values support over competition, treating one another like family. Each patient has a narrative; we trust you to help convey it effectively.
