Job Description

Step into a fulfilling opportunity to shape young minds as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This contract position is located in a supportive elementary school environment, working closely with a dedicated team focused on creating a positive impact for students in an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) classroom.

As a valued special education professional, you’ll be integral to fostering an inclusive learning space that empowers students to reach their fullest potential. The school prioritizes collaboration, offering you the guidance of para-professionals, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), CNAs, or LPNs to support your classroom initiatives. Assignments are focused—just one elementary school—allowing you to build meaningful relationships with students and staff throughout your tenure.

Desired Qualifications:

Active Special Education Teaching License in Michigan (MI SPED license required)
Experience or passion for working with elementary-aged students on the autism spectrum
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Adaptable and responsive to individual student needs
Ability to contribute positively within a team environment

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement individualized instruction tailored to the needs of ASD students
Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, and families
Monitor and track student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment
Participate in virtual panel interviews as part of the selection process

The onboarding process will include fingerprinting to ensure the safety of all students. This assignment offers full-time hours in a welcoming, well-supported educational setting—enhancing not only your teaching practice but also your professional network.
