Through strong operational oversight, vendor partnerships, and team leadership, Campus Operations ensures the Authority’s facilities operate at the highest standards of quality, safety practices, incident response, and preventive maintenance.EQUIPMENT REPAIR MECHANIC POSITION SUMMARYThe Authority is currently recruiting an Equipment Repair Mechanic to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Equipment Mechanic supports facility maintenance by ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of equipment essential to daily operations and event execution. This role requires demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems and a working understanding of basic electrical and/or engineering principles to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of equipment, including housekeeping, grounds, kitchen, and event-related assets.The Equipment Mechanic operates with a high degree of independence and technical skill, prioritizing work based on operational demands and event needs. This position contributes to preventative maintenance efforts, equipment lifecycle management, and overall operational readiness. Responsibilities include the repair and maintenance of catering equipment, motorized carts, lifts, appliances, and other facility-related equipment, as well as supporting installations, maintenance projects, and special assignments across the campus.EQUIPMENT REPAIR MECHANIC PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The position involves a full range of body movement and may require climbing ladders or stairs and working in confined or elevated spaces. Employees must be able to use hands and tools to perform detailed repair work, demonstrating manual dexterity and visual acuity. The ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50–75 pounds is required, with occasional movement of heavier equipment using appropriate assistance or mechanical aids. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, noise levels, and elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and odors. This position requires flexibility to work an irregular schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational and event needs.EQUIPMENT REPAIR MECHANIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:Perform mechanical/electrical, physical component repair and maintenance work on such equipment as motorized carts, forklifts, vacuum cleaners, power tools, catering type equipment, tables, chairs, etc.Maintain records, including use of the computerized maintenance work order system, relative to such areas as repairs, preventative maintenance, work orders, parts and supply usage, and labor expended in the repair and maintenance of equipment.Notify appropriate personnel when equipment being serviced appears to have been improperly used or abusedMaintain inventory control and dispense maintenance and repair parts and supplies.Assist in determining when equipment should be salvaged due to repetitive repairs, high operating costs, or excessive damages.Prioritize repairs based on event needs.Position requires an irregular work schedule, and the performance of work assignments that may not be directly related to job specifications.Maintain a professional image that represents the philosophy of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority with emphasis providing to exhibitors and clients with the highest level of customer service deemed possible.Perform such other duties, i.e., assist with installation of Engineering Services for Events, maintenance projects, special projects and responsibilities as assigned.EQUIPMENT REPAIR MECHANIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIESKnowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and preventative maintenance practices for motorized carts, forklifts, power tools, vacuums, catering equipment, tables, chairs, and related equipment.Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, inventory control practices, and computerized maintenance work order systems.Skilled in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment.Proficient in troubleshooting equipment issues and prioritizing repairs based on operational and event needs.Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.Skilled in providing professional customer service and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to perform preventative maintenance and equipment repairs in a timely and efficient manner.Ability to identify equipment misuse, excessive damage, or replacement needs and communicate findings appropriately.Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced event environment.Ability to work flexible and irregular schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.EQUIPMENT REPAIR MECHANIC EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) requiredAssociate degree or equivalent from a two- (2) year college or technical school preferredMinimum two (2) years experience performing similar type duties.EQUIPMENT REPAIR MECHANIC BENEFITSGeorgia World Congress Center Authority offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package which includes extensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance coverage, paid vacation, paid state holidays, Flexible Spending Account options, a 401(k) plan with 5% match, free on-site dining during hours of operation, free on-site parking, plus discounted prices on auto insurance, home insurance, technology, travel, event tickets, attractions and much more!Visit to learn more about our culture and campus.Georgia World Congress Center Authority is an Equal Opportunity Employer and as such does not discriminate in hiring, promotions, or on terms or conditions of employment because of race, creed, color, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, marital status, eligibility for military service, disability, or for any other illegal purpose. #J-18808-Ljbffr
