FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

POSITION SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks and/or construction equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Read work orders and observe and listen to trucks in operation to determine malfunctions and diagnose problems. Offer solutions to meet customer specifications and provide estimates when appropriate. Make mechanical repairs to equipment after a complete inspection and analysis of breakdowns. Record a complete repair description on work orders, including the correct model, serial number, and hour‑meter reading. Obtain signatures from customers and communicate repair needs or completed work. Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and make adjustments. Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications. Represent Equipment Depot to customers and maintain a professional appearance and clean van at all times. Track and schedule routine maintenance or service‑related issues with operations or the service manager. Work in a manner that protects customers, Equipment Depot, and the public. Return paperwork to the field service coordinator daily (work orders, fuel receipts, sublet invoices, etc.). Submit time cards by 9:00 a.m. daily; if dispatched from home, call in time to the service administrator by 9:00 a.m.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Development (GED). Experience: One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer Skills: Knowledge of internet software. Certificates & Licenses: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Language & Communication: Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively to customers or employees. Math: Ability to perform basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning: Apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions and solve problems in standardized situations. Work Environment: Varies between office, job sites, and industrial locations.
