Senior Engineer

Thompson Engineering is seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer to provide technical leadership, mentor engineering staff, and support the continued growth of our multidisciplinary engineering practice throughout the Gulf Coast region. This position is intentionally broad to attract accomplished engineering professionals with expertise in transportation, site civil, coastal engineering, hydrology and hydraulics (H&H), water resources, federal, municipal, or other civil engineering disciplines. Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on complex engineering projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams from planning through construction.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff across multiple office locations.
• Serve as a technical reviewer for engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for future work.
• Support business development, proposal preparation, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Coordinate with public agencies, municipalities, and private clients.
• Assist in expanding Thompson Engineering's engineering services and regional presence.
• Ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more engineering disciplines including:
• Transportation
• Site Civil
• Water Resources
• Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H)
• Coastal Engineering
• Federal Infrastructure
• Municipal Engineering
• Land Development
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong client relationship management and business development experience preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
