Job Description
Job Description
Description:
The Behavior Technician provides direct, intensive behavioral support to students whose behavioral, social-emotional, functional, or adaptive needs affect their ability to access instruction and participate successfully in the school environment.
The Behavior Technician takes ownership of the day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and follow-through of behavioral supports for assigned students. Working collaboratively with teachers, Exceptional Children (EC) staff, school leaders, families, and other members of the Student Support team, the Behavior Technician implements established behavioral interventions, collects and reviews behavioral data, monitors student progress, supports consistent implementation across settings, and escalates concerns when additional assessment or changes to a student’s plan may be needed.
The Behavior Technician uses positive behavioral strategies, direct observation, data collection, reinforcement systems, and explicit instruction to help students develop appropriate replacement behaviors, increase independence, and participate successfully across school settings.
The Behavior Technician may support individual students or multiple students based on identified student and school needs and will complete required Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training to support prevention, de-escalation, and safe response to behavioral crises.
