Accounting Associate - Temp-to-Hire

Location: Compton, CA 90220 I Onsite
Pay: $26.00 to $28.00 per hour
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Full-Time

About the Opportunity:

A well-established, vertically integrated fresh-produce company is seeking an Accounting Associate to join its accounting team in Compton, CA. This is a newly created position supporting a small, experienced, and long-tenured accounting team.

The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, hardworking, and team-focused , with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build or expand their accounting experience in a hands-on environment.

The role will initially have a strong focus on grower settlement data entry and processing , so candidates should be comfortable performing repetitive, detail-sensitive work with a high degree of accuracy. Over time, there may be opportunities to take on additional accounting responsibilities.

What You'll Do:

• Enter and process grower settlement information accurately and efficiently
• Perform high-volume data entry and 10-key functions
• Review information for accuracy, completeness, and discrepancies
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
• Support the accounting team with reconciliations and other administrative accounting tasks
• Work closely with team members to ensure transactions are processed accurately and on time
• Follow established accounting procedures and internal processes
• Take on additional accounting responsibilities as you become familiar with the business and systems

What We're Looking For

• Spanish-speaking required
• Strong data-entry skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail
• Comfortable with high-volume, repetitive data entry
• Strong 10-key skills
• Reliable, dependable, and committed to completing work accurately and on time
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Positive attitude and team-oriented approach
• Comfortable working in a small, close-knit accounting department
• Willingness to begin with grower settlement entry rather than immediately taking on broad staff accounting responsibilities
• Basic Microsoft Excel skills

Nice to Have

• Experience in produce, agriculture, food distribution, import, freight, wholesale, or a related industry
• Previous experience with accounts payable or accounts receivable
• Experience processing settlements or similar high-volume transactions
• Exposure to an accounting or ERP system
• Previous experience working in a small accounting or finance department
