Human Resources Specialist - Courts

Job Description Summary The Arizona Superior Court in Pima County seeks a detail oriented Human Resources Specialist I to support both Superior and Juvenile Courts. The role includes HRIS data entry, employment transactions, onboarding, benefits support, leave administration, and workers’ compensation coordination. The position is primarily located in the Juvenile Court Center Human Resources office with occasional support for Superior Court HR. Hiring Range $23.28 - $25.32 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in Business or Public Administration with two years of HR administrative support, OR materially equivalent combination of education and experience, OR four years of progressively responsible paraprofessional work experience with two years of experience in one or more HR areas. Basic knowledge of human resources principles and public administration. Strong data entry accuracy and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Preferred Qualifications Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems. Experience processing employment transactions and HR documentation. Knowledge of benefits and leave programs including FMLA. Familiarity with workers’ compensation. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Essential Duties Enter various data and process employment transactions in HRIS, reviewing data for errors and inconsistencies. Prepare personnel action forms to document status, pay, and position changes. Process new hire onboarding, assist current employees with employment verifications, benefits, status changes, and other requests. Manage leaves of absence, advise employees of options, and provide requested reports. Advise employees on benefit programs and eligibility, researching issues and following up as needed. Coordinate temporary coverage for employee absences, maintain documentation, and review temporary agency invoices. Represent HR to the public, vendors, State of Arizona, and Pima County staff for benefit program administration and workers’ compensation claims. Additional Responsibilities & Duties Compose letters and documents related to HR, leave of absence, and workers’ compensation claims. Complete special assignments such as reports, surveys, and benefit research. Assist with AmeriCorps program administration. Assist with per diem, internship, and externship processes and program administration. Assist with front desk coverage for the 9th floor Reception and Juvenile Court HR office. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Additional Requirements Attention to detail and ability to detect data inconsistencies. Knowledge of professional office practices and HR principles. Software skills with word‑processing, spreadsheets, calendaring, HRIS and applicant tracking. Administration of benefit programs and ability to assist employees with benefits questions. Knowledge of leave programs such as FMLA and USERRA. Effective communication with diverse audiences including employees, vendors, and government agencies. Licenses & Certificates None required. Physical/Sensory Items Typically performed in an office environment. May lift up to 20 lbs. Requires sitting or remaining immobile for long periods.
