View the comprehensive information about the competitive benefits package on our careers page then scroll down to CENTERS Benefits.Moraine Valley's Health, Fitness & Recreation Center in Palos Hills, Illinois is a state-of-the-art 113,000-square-foot facility committed to providing a diverse offering of programs and services to individuals and families, including Moraine Valley students, employees and community members. The facility is highlighted by a large fitness center, a 3-court gymnasium, and a recreational pool. The facility is open nearly 110 hours per week with a variety of membership options for students, employees, seniors, and all other members of the community.ResponsibilitiesOversee the operation of the MVCC Health, Fitness & Recreation Center (HFRC), including but not limited to, staff supervision, risk management, customer service, emergency response, cash handling, membership sales and program knowledge.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead Shift Teams: Manage and delegate tasks to up to 10 student and part-time staff membersMentor Staff: Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective measuresEnsure Compliance: Enforce all facility policies, procedures, and professional standardsMonitor Safety: Conduct facility inspections before, during, and after shifts to mitigate risksMaintain Cleanliness: Partner with custodial staff to ensure high standards of facility cleanlinessAccess Control: Verify patron identification and resolve building eligibility or access issuesLog Operations: Complete required shift documentation and record daily updates in the central logManage Transactions: Process memberships, locker rentals, and program registrations accuratelySoftware Troubleshooting: Utilize RecAuto software for sales and resolve system or membership issuesHandle Cash: Follow strict cash handling practices to ensure accurate revenue reconciliationEngage Patrons: Deliver high-quality customer service, conduct tours, and resolve complaintsEmergency Response: Execute emergency action plans and document all medical or non-medical incidentsEvent Execution: Set up and manage facility rentals and special events during assigned shiftsCampus Liaison: Coordinate with Campus Operations, Police, Athletics, Academics, and building partnersOther duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum QualificationsMaintain current Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED & First Aid certification (certification provided by HFRC)Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and handle several tasks at once with frequent interruptionsStrong interpersonal communication, decision making and conflict resolution skillsComfortable responding to emergencies & leading risk management planAbility to work independently and in a team environmentExceptional customer service skillsPreferred SkillsSome experience in a leadership position supervising other employeesExperience in fitness/athletic settingProfessional aspirations in management and leadershipWillingness and ability to enforce policies and resolve conflictsWork Environment and Physical DemandsWork Environment & Physical DemandsOffice environment/fitness center environmentModerate to loud noiseSeveral hours on feet/walking aroundAssist w/ lifting exceeding 50lbsRepetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement (while operating computer equipment)Occasional bending, stoopingEye-hand coordination (keyboard typing)Hearing and talkingOther DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
