Assistant Director of Operations

Reports to: Senior Director, U.S. Operations

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a proactive and dynamic Assistant Director of Operations to oversee the daily production and fulfillment activities at their Mishawaka facility. This role is crucial in ensuring that all operational procedures are executed efficiently and align with strategic business objectives. The ideal candidate will be adept at translating strategy into actionable plans, leading a team of supervisors, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of production and fulfillment, ensuring alignment with productivity targets and compliance metrics.
• Utilize performance metrics and analytics to drive improvements and maintain high operational standards.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, manage corrective actions, and report incidents appropriately.
• Collaborate with facilities management for maintenance and ensure the site remains audit-ready.
• Lead efforts in implementing and sustaining the 5S methodology for optimal workspace organization.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide leadership, development, and support for supervisory staff to enhance team performance.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Ensure comprehensive training and motivation of team members, maintaining detailed records.
• Deploy Management by Walking Around (MBWA) to maintain a consistent presence on the floor.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives and support community-focused efforts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a production environment, preferably in logistics.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse team.
• Experience managing 30-50+ direct, non-exempt reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
• Background in budget preparation and cost analysis.
