5+ years of experience supporting mechanical construction, commissioning, field engineering, or critical infrastructure projects.\n\nAbility to read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, specifications, and test reports.\n\nExperience performing field inspections, QA/QC reviews, contractor oversight, or commissioning support.\n\nWorking knowledge of mechanical equipment including chillers, HVAC, plumbing and other related controls.\nStrong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work full-time on active construction sites.

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Mechanical Field Engineer to support the construction, commissioning, and quality oversight of mission-critical data center infrastructure projects. This individual will serve as a technical field resource supporting the client's Data Center Services (DCS) Project Managers and Engineering teams throughout all phases of installation, testing, energization, and turnover.\n\nThe Mechanical Field Engineer will work closely with contractors, commissioning teams, equipment vendors, utility providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure mechanical systems are installed, tested, documented, and commissioned in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, and operational expectations. This role will spend the majority of its time on-site performing field inspections, supporting commissioning activities, resolving technical issues, and driving quality execution across critical electrical infrastructure.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide field oversight of mechanical construction, installation quality, and commissioning readiness activities.\nParticipate in commissioning meetings and support coordination between project teams, contractors, vendors, and engineers.\nReview mechanical submittals, RFIs, change orders, temporary services plans, and technical documentation for compliance and constructability.\nPerform QA/QC inspections, field audits, punch walkdowns, and issue tracking utilizing Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).\nSupport commissioning and startup activities through observation, troubleshooting, issue resolution, and review of testing documentation.\n\nMonitor installation quality and adherence to established mechanical standards.\nSupport equipment energization planning, testing procedures, and operational readiness activities.\nCoordinate with utility providers, equipment manufacturers, and contractors to resolve technical and construction-related issues.\nReview as-built documentation, redlines, panel schedules, and turnover documentation for accuracy and completeness.\nServe as a technical resource for electrical equipment installation, operation, and integrated system functionality.\nThe position is responsible for ensuring electrical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and documented in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, operational expectations, and safety requirements. This role works closely with construction teams, commissioning agents, engineers, vendors, utility providers, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide field oversight of mechanical infrastructure construction, installation quality, and commissioning activities.\nReview electrical submittals, RFIs, change orders, testing reports, and temporary power/service plans.\nParticipate in commissioning activities, troubleshooting, system validation, and issue resolution.\nConduct QA/QC inspections, punch list reviews, and field observations utilizing Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).\n\nCoordinate with contractors, vendors, utilities, engineering teams, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues.\nMonitor compliance with mechanical quality standards, construction protection plans, torque standards, and operational requirements.\nTrack as-built documentation, redlines, panel schedules, and turnover deliverables.\nServe as the primary technical resource for electrical equipment installation, operation, and integrated system functionality.\n\nCompensation:\n$50hr to $60/hr + OT\n \nExact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.\n \nBenefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
