Senior Database Administrator
Contract Length: 6 Months Location: New York, NY Work Setup: Hybrid
Join an enterprise technology environment supporting mission-critical business applications and infrastructure. The Senior Database Administrator will ensure the performance, security, availability, and reliability of Microsoft SQL Server platforms while partnering with application, infrastructure, and development teams.
Senior Database Administrator Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 databases supporting enterprise applications.
- Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, storage, and system health.
- Perform backups, restorations, disaster recovery testing, replication, and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot performance issues, blocking, deadlocks, and production incidents.
- Implement database upgrades, migrations, patching, and modernization initiatives.
- Develop and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and database objects.
- Support application deployments and cross-functional technology projects.
Senior Database Administrator Qualifications — Must Have
- Strong Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
- Expertise in database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, backup/recovery, and high availability.
- Proficiency with SSMS, T-SQL, PowerShell, Python, SSIS/SSRS, Azure DevOps, Power BI, and Windows Server.
- Knowledge of SQL Server security, auditing, monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.
- Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Senior Database Administrator Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure Data Factory.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and Infrastructure as Code.
- Exposure to Kubernetes and container technologies.
- Experience with database migration, modernization, storage, and infrastructure integration.
