Senior It Project ManagerGenesis10 is currently seeking a Senior IT Project Manager for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 18+ month contract opportunity.We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager with extensive experience to lead a large-scale Hadoop environment decommissioning and data migration initiative. The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing complex infrastructure, data platform, application migration, and technology decommissioning projects within large enterprise environments. This role will coordinate cross-functional technology teams, establish project plans, manage risks, and ensure the legacy Hadoop environment is successfully retired with minimal business disruption.Responsibilities:Lead the end-to-end project management of a Hadoop environment decommissioning initiative, from planning through final shutdown and retirementDevelop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and resource requirementsCoordinate migration activities involving Hadoop, Big Data, data platforms, applications, databases, and cloud environmentsWork with technical teams to identify applications, data, interfaces, jobs, users, and downstream/upstream dependencies associated with the Hadoop environmentPartner with architects, engineers, infrastructure teams, data teams, application owners, security, and business stakeholders to establish migration and decommissioning strategiesManage the migration of data and workloads from Hadoop to designated target platformsTrack application remediation, data migration, validation, testing, cutover, and decommissioning activitiesEstablish and manage RAID logs (Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions), project status reporting, and executive communicationsIdentify project risks and dependencies and develop mitigation and contingency plansCoordinate multiple workstreams and technical teams to ensure activities remain aligned with the overall project scheduleManage change control, scope, deliverables, and project documentationFacilitate project meetings, working sessions, steering committee meetings, and executive status reviewsEstablish and track project KPIs and milestones related to migration completion and Hadoop shutdownCoordinate production cutover and decommissioning activities, including validation and post-migration supportEnsure appropriate documentation, approvals, controls, and signoffs are completed before final environment retirementCommunicate project progress, risks, issues, and decisions to senior leadership and stakeholdersRequirements:7+ years of IT Project Management experience managing complex technology initiativesProven experience managing technology decommissioning and/or application/data migration projectsStrong understanding of infrastructure, application, and data migration lifecyclesExperience coordinating multiple technical teams and complex cross-system dependenciesExperience managing large enterprise projects with multiple stakeholders and workstreamsStrong experience with project planning, scheduling, RAID management, risk management, and executive reportingExcellent communication, organization, facilitation, and stakeholder management skillsExperience working in an Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery environmentStrong ability to translate technical information into clear project status and executive-level communicationsDesired skills:Experience leading projects involving Hadoop or Big Data environmentsPay range: $51.09 - $59.09 per hourOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!
